ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO 3

Project 1 Journey of the 5 Senses
Concentric Building - Colosseum
Linear Building - Yad Vashem
Introduction to poetic spaces and spatial typologies, through analysis of buildings with two different spatial typology and later designing two 'walk' schemes, translating a poetry chosen.
Project 1 A - Precedent Studies
Analysing spatial typologies and spatial poetics
Learning Outcome
After this project , I am able to identify and explain the different spatial types in architecture, like linear and concentric. I am also able to pick out the poetics which inform the design project. I am able to create different spatial typologies which impact the uses and experiential condition of a space, without failing to consider the human scale, natural light, materiality and textures. Drawings and modellings are produced in this project along with a verbal presentation, as we practise our skill in communicating and visualizing architectural design and ideas.
Project 1 B - The Journey of the 5 Senses
Linear Space
Concentric Space

Project 3 GENIUS LOCI - Visitor Interpretive Centre
An architectural response to design an interpretive centre emphasising strong relationship to the site, spatial experince and programmatic requirements.
Learning Outcome
The main objective of this final project is to generate a design based on the unique character of the site which has to response to the site, functional program and users' experience. Other measures that need to be considered includes human scale, natural light, material and section-plan relationships. I developed the skill of the spatial arrangement of the interior spaces. Drawings and renderings are produced and along with a verbal presentation communicates and visualize the architectural design and ideas.
Project 2 GENIUS LOCI - SIte Analysis & Concept Development
Discovering the site and its genius loci
Learning Outcome
This project aids in the understanding of genius loci. In groups, we were to produce a site analysis comprising of not only the physical measures, but also the 'genius loci'. Genius loci is the meaning of a place. It includes the society, culture, history, memory, and the landscape of a particular unique space. From the second part of the project I learnt how to 'capture' the happenigs in the site which describe and has a connection with the genius loci and illustrate it.
